Appendix E: Summary of Current Deficiencies

The summary of current deficiencies reflects the known accessibility challenges in and around campus, but does not list the deficiencies from the Accessology report. However, both documents are used as guidelines to identify which projects can be addressed each fiscal year given the amount of funding designated for accessibility concerns on campus.

Transition plan stakeholders assigned the current deficiencies to one of five categories. These categories include the following:

  1. Path of travel inside: clear floor space, clear doorway width to classrooms and offices, compliant door hardware (levers and door closers), signage, and install elevators;

  2. Entrances: proximity to accessible parking, clear doorway width, power assist door operators, signage indicating accessible entrances, and compliant thresholds;

  3. Path of travel outside: width, slope, evenness, surface composition, and protruding objects; handrails and guardrails; curb ramps and detectible warnings; and floor gratings;

  4. Restrooms: fixtures and layout, wheelchair turning space, wheelchair-accessible stall, grab bars, compliant plumbing fixtures, lavatory clearances, controls and operating mechanisms, and mirror and shelf heights.

  5. Other: wayfinding, mapping, adjust height of electrical receptacles, etc.

This document will be updated on an annual basis to reflect work that has been completed or is in progress. The ADA Prioritization Committee is responsible for prioritizing what projects will be completed each year.

Access to this document requires that you authenticate with your UT EID. If you do not have a UT EID, you will need to apply for a UT EID or complete and submit an Open Records Request to view the University’s ADA Transition Plan.
