ADA Transition Plan
The University of Texas at Austin is actively working to improve accessibility across campus. University stakeholders developed updates to UT Austin’s ADA transition plan to provide a framework for achieving equal access to UT Austin’s programs, activities, and services within a reasonable timeframe.
Successful implementation of the ADA Transition Plan depends upon several factors including adequate budget and personnel. This document will help UT Austin stakeholders and campus leadership prioritize investments in upgrading campus spaces and facilities to align with federal and state accessibility standards.
The transition plan is an evolving document and progress updates will be shared annually.

Transition Plan-2025
UT Austin is working to improve accessibility across campus. The updated ADA Transition Plan provides a framework for achieving equal access to programs, activities, and services.
Appendix A: HOP - 3-3020: Nondiscrimination Policy
UT Austin prohibits discrimination and harassment based on protected status and is committed to a safe learning and working environment.
Appendix B: 504 Transition Plan
UT Austin began its accessibility efforts before the ADA, completing its first transition plan in 1977 under Section 504 regulations after surveying campus barriers. This digitized version of the original document may contain occasional transcription errors.
Appendix C: ADA Transition Plan, 1992
UT Austin completed its original ADA Transition Plan in 1992. Because campus programs, locations, and needs have changed since then, the plan has been updated to reflect current conditions. This digitized version of the original document may contain occasional transcription errors.
Appendix D: Accessology Report
This report is several years old and no longer current. At the time, UT Austin hired Accessology, a Texas‑based accessibility consulting firm, to review campus paths of travel, including certain streets under university control. The report informed earlier efforts focused on improving accessible routes across campus. This digitized document is outdated and may contain transcription errors.
Appendix E: Summary of Current Deficiencies
In FY 22‑23, UT Austin hired Registered Accessibility Specialists from Altura Solutions to assess general‑purpose classroom buildings for Texas Accessibility Standards/ADAAG compliance. These high‑traffic academic spaces guide future project planning, and the ADA Prioritization Committee began funding improvements from the assessment in FY 23‑24.

ADA Prioritization Committee
Implementation of the transition plan is led by the ADA Prioritization Committee. This group oversees the application of the rule set and prioritization schedule and make adjustments on a necessary basis. On an annual basis, the committee releases a report detailing the work and projects that were completed or funded during the previous fiscal year.
Access to the reports requires that you authenticate with your UT EID. If you do not have a UT EID, you will need to apply for a UT EID or complete and submit an Open Records Request to view the annual report.
