Jeffery Graves received both his undergraduate and law school degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. After graduating law school in 1991, Mr. Graves practiced law in New Mexico, concentrating on higher education law and employment law. He returned to the university in 2001, taking a position in the Office of the Vice President for Legal Affairs. In 2003, he became an Associate Vice President for Legal Affairs, the university's Privacy Officer and Director of the university’s Institutional Compliance program from 2003 to 2007.
In 2020, Mr. Graves was appointed the Chief Compliance Officer for the university.
For several years, Mr. Graves taught Higher Education Law in the University’s Higher Education Administration graduate program in the College of Education. He has also been a member of National Association of College and University Attorneys since 1995.
