This policy is being retired as it is being consolidated with new HOP 2-9970 Teaching of Courses by Faculty which will address a broad range of policy requirements related to teaching.

This policy has been developed to establish clear expectations for all CSUs, Departments, faculty, and administrators, reducing risk and discrepancy related to the teaching of courses by faculty and assistant instructors and improving consistency across student learning experiences on campus as well as compliance with state, federal, UT System, and University rules.

This policy is being revised to bring the timelines for comprehensive periodic reviews (CPR) into compliance with state law and the UT System expectations that these reviews are completed no less often than every six years. The policy revisions also clarify the rare and extenuating circumstances under which a faculty member’s CPR may be deferred; clarify how ratings will be shared with University administrators; and update the language related to termination and summary dismissal to be incompliance with SB18.

This policy is being retired as it is redundant and the information is contained in the IRUSP, in compliance with UT System policy.

This policy supports UT Austin’s commitment to providing an education and working environment for its students, faculty, and staff that is free from discrimination on the basis of pregnant and parenting status in accordance with Texas Education Code (Tex. Educ. Code), Section 51.982 and other applicable laws, such as Title IX of the Higher Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex (including pregnancy discrimination) in education programs or activities; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of a disability (including disabilities based on temporary medical conditions from pregnancy); and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), which prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in public schools such as institutions of higher education.

This policy is being revised as the previous version had not been updated since 1982. The updates will reflect current university practice.

This policy is being updated as the current policy has not been updated since September 1, 1992, and the language in the current policy is outdated. In addition, the termination appeal process is being streamlined to make it more accessible to separated employees. The scope of the policy is being refined, processes have been aligned with HOP 3-3031 and clearer language for the processes governed by the policy has been provided.

This policy has been developed to allow graduate students enrolled in a non-formula-funded (Option III) programs to be appointed to provide course support for online, non-formula-funded courses and programs.

This policy is being retired as it is redundant and the information is contained in the Annual Security & Fire Safety Report, published each year on or before October 1.

This policy was developed in collaboration with Faculty Council and the Provost’s Office to clarify the process of undergraduate curricular review and approval that has been delegated to Undergraduate College.
